Dr. Fatme Al Anouti is a Professor of Clinical Biochemistry with specialization in Nutrition and Immunology. She has more than 25 years of experience in higher education and research across North America and the Middle East and North Africa.
Prior to joining Khalifa University, she was the Assistant Dean of Research and Outreach at Zayed University College of Natural and Health Sciences and the Director of the Nutrigenomics Spoke Center within the Precision Medicine Virtual Lab Institute. Through these roles, she has advanced interdisciplinary research, academic–industry collaboration, and community engagement within the UAE.
A committed educator and mentor, Professor Al Anouti co-founded the Undergraduate Research Scholar Program, helping students develop research skills, contribute to scholarly publications, and pursue graduate studies. She has received recognition from UNESCO and the UAE Ministry of Education for her initiatives which supported experiential education and international study opportunities.
Her research spans across diverse disciplines in the medical sciences with the following focus: Examining the metabolic changes pertaining to the use of dietary supplements and vitamins to support energy metabolism and physical performance among athletes; Vitamin D metabolism and its cross-talk with endocrine disorders like diabetes, osteoporosis, PMOS/PCOS and obesity; utilizing genetic and biochemical approaches to study anti-inflammatory properties of vitamin D and nutraceuticals across the lifespan in different disease and health conditions; and the clinical implications of the exposome on longevity and health.
Professor Al Anouti contributed to the development of clinical guidelines for vitamin D in the UAE and received the Abu Dhabi Medical Distinction Award for her contributions to Health research.
She is a member of many international professional organizations like the Vitamin D council and the American Association of Clinical Chemistry
