Biography

Dr. Sudipta Ghosh is a Research Scientist in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, and is currently on leave from his position as Senior Assistant Professor (Grade I) at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Kurukshetra, India. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, where his doctoral thesis on model order reduction techniques in modern power systems was recognized with the prestigious POSOCO Power System Award (PPSA-2014) for outstanding research excellence, presented by the Power System Operation Corporation Limited in collaboration with IIT Delhi. He completed his M.Tech. in Industrial Electrical Systems from NIT Durgapur and his B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from NIT Jamshedpur, graduating First Class with Distinction in both.

With over 12 years of post-PhD experience, he has served as an Assistant Professor at IIT Dhanbad, Shiv Nadar University, SRM University, and NIT Kurukshetra, and as an Associate Graduate Faculty at the University of North Carolina, USA. Dr. Ghosh's research focuses on power system dynamics and control for renewable-integrated grids, frequency response and inertia estimation, transient and small-signal stability, model order reduction, wide-area damping control, and machine learning-aided stability assessment. He was an active member of the group that developed the SAVE Tool (Stability Assessment, Visualization, and Enhancement) for TRANSCO, UAE, which was ranked first among 53 projects worldwide and received the R&D Award of the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (2023).

Dr. Ghosh has authored multiple IEEE Transactions articles, several granted patents, supervised and co-mentored multiple Ph.D. and M.S. students, and served as a reviewer for leading IEEE Transactions.
